Senior Management

Kenneth Black
Managing Director

Kenny has over 16 years of hard-earned security experience – the majority of this working with the same installation team he manages today.

His particular areas of expertise are design and installation; he knows exactly what works in the real, on-site world and what doesn’t, so provides the perfect balance of ingenuity and practicality. If there is a solution to be had, Kenny can design it!

His qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • NACOSS internal quality auditor
  • Dualcom, Adpro, Dedicated Micros and Honeywell Galaxy installer
  • FIA certified design, installation and testing of fire detection
  • Digital AV installer and trainer

Ian Weir
Financial Director

Although he would be reluctant to admit it, Ian has been entrenched in the security industry for close to 35 years now. His previous company, The Unit Group, provided guarding and remotely-monitored CCTV systems across the UK and Europe. The sale of the business to the SSG group in 2006 gave Ian the opportunity to apply his business talents and industry learnings to APS.

Ian’s ultimate responsibility is the operation and development of APS. In practice this means that he oversees client liaison, service excellence, quality standards and product advancement. One of his main roles – and one in which he has a great depth of expertise – is the identification, development and implementation of new technologies to assist the APS management team and, more importantly, benefit APS customers.

One of Ian’s most recent projects has been the introduction of the rapid-deployment RoboTower smart camera towers to the APS security solutions range. These systems represent an exciting step-change in accessibility and control for sites where traditional solutions have been somewhat limited.

Douglas Mitchell
Technical Supervisor

Douglas is another member of the team who has been ‘man and boy’ within the industry as he’s currently enjoying his 15thyear in the world of security.

As his job title suggests, Douglas oversees the technical aspects of our designs, installations and service contracts. Reporting back to the senior management team, he is the go-to guy for our technicians in the field and has an eye for service excellence.

His qualifications include:

Customer Support

Stephanie Gierthy
Customer Services

Stephanie is based in our Head Office from where she leads our customer service team.

Having been involved in customer service for more than 5 years, Stephanie knows the importance of providing prompt answers and effective solutions to those who need assistance. Offering a central point of contact for our clients, she liaises with the field team and ensures that work plans and call-outs are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.

Stephanie also takes ultimate responsibility for the management of APS service contracts, service desk enquiries, customer database and Alarm Master software.

Dawn Halliday
Customer Services & Customer Accounts

Dawn supports Stephanie in her customer service role and also takes care of matters relating to customer accounts. Her attention to detail means that invoices are accurately checked against work carried out and her service knowledge ensures that any payment queries can be dealt with promptly.

Having both members of the team fully up-to-date with site contacts and individual service requirements allows a fast response to customer queries even during busy periods – and invaluable continuity when other staff are on holiday.
